pumpshop history

With the increase in vehicle reliability and poor profit margins on the sale of fuel, the urge to develop garage sites for housing becomes more attractive, but at what cost.
Over 100 years of history is being lost daily,
the converted forge, the magnificent art deco forecourts, the country garage lost, as is the skills of the mechanic who once kept britains
machinery well oiled.
For the last 15 years the garage museum
has been collecting, restoring and displaying the remains of this once great industry.
Privately owned and financed the aim is to recreate garage scenes and architecture of different periods, a time line of fuel, oil and nostalgia.
